Emerald ash borer has changed everything for ash trees. Healthy trees can be protected, but time matters.
Ash trees are common in Tennessee neighborhoods, and emerald ash borer is the greatest threat to them. The beetle larvae feed under the bark and cut off a tree's flow of water and nutrients. Untreated ash trees typically decline and die within a few years of infestation.
The good news is that healthy ash trees can be protected with regular treatments. The bad news is that trees that have lost much of their canopy are poor candidates and become brittle and dangerous. A Certified Arborist can check your ash trees, tell you which can be saved and which should be removed while it is still safe.
