Thin crown, odd leaf color, dying branches or mushrooms on the trunk: an arborist figures out what is wrong and what to do.
Trees do not complain until the problem is advanced. By the time leaves turn early, branches die back or fungus appears on the trunk, something has been wrong for a while. The cause can be a pest, a disease, drought, soil compaction, construction damage or a combination.
A Certified Arborist looks at the whole system: soil, roots, trunk, crown and surroundings. We check for insects, fungal infections and nutrient and water issues, take samples if needed and talk with you about what changed on the property. You get a diagnosis and a practical plan: treat, adjust care, prune or accept that the tree cannot be saved.
Drought and heat stress, soil compaction from construction, overwatering, root damage, borers, scale, bagworms, anthracnose, powdery mildew and oak diseases are common. Many problems look alike, which is why an on-site look matters.
Leaf and twig condition, canopy density, bark and trunk, root flare and soil. We look for signs of insects, fungal growth, wounds and stress. We ask about recent changes such as digging, grade changes, irrigation or weather.
Depending on what we find, the plan may include treatment, soil improvement, pruning, mulching, watering changes or monitoring. If the tree is beyond help, we say so and talk about removal and replacement.
We note what we find and when, so you can see how the tree changes. A tree that holds steady or improves is a good sign. A tree that declines every year needs a different plan.

If the trunk is hollow, the roots are failing or most of the crown is dead, recovery is unlikely.
