Firewood and Log Removal

Cut logs split, stacked or hauled, so the wood from your tree goes where you want it.

When a tree comes down, you get a lot of wood. Some homeowners want it for the fireplace or the fire pit, others want it gone, and a few want a log or two saved for a workshop. We cut and handle the wood however you like.

We can cut logs to firewood length and stack them neatly, leave rounds for you to split, haul all of it away or set aside the best logs for milling. A Certified Arborist can tell you whether a tree species is a good firewood candidate and whether the wood might be carrying a pest, like emerald ash borer, that should not travel.

Firewood lengths and seasoning

Most fireplaces and stoves burn wood cut around sixteen inches. Fresh wood needs months to season before it burns well. Hardwoods like oak, hickory and maple burn long and hot, while pine and poplar burn fast.

Moving wood responsibly

Some pests and diseases travel in firewood. Ash wood from areas with emerald ash borer is regulated in some places. We tell you what to know before moving wood off site and handle it properly when it must stay local.

Milling and special logs

Large straight logs of oak, walnut, cherry or maple may be worth milling. We can set them aside and point you to a local mill. Even common species can make beautiful lumber for benches and shelves.

Cut-to-length options

Tell us the length your stove or fireplace takes. We cut consistently to that size, stack the rounds near the work area and clean up the sawdust. Splitting is available on request.
