Stumps, Roots & Cleanup

Lawn and Landscape Restoration

After a removal, a grinding or a crane day, we fill ruts and holes and get the lawn ready to recover.

Tree work can leave marks: ruts from equipment, a hole where a stump was, bare patches under a crown that used to shade the lawn and, sometimes, new sun for plants that were shade-adapted. Restoration turns a work zone back into a yard.

We fill and level holes and ruts with clean soil, rake out chips and sawdust, and prepare the surface for seeding, sod or beds. A Certified Arborist helps you choose what to plant now that the light has changed, and which trees, shrubs or ground covers will do well in the new conditions.

Filling and leveling

We fill stump holes in layers and compact lightly so the surface does not sink after rain. Ruts from equipment are raked and leveled, and we add topsoil where needed so grass seed has something to grow in.

Seed, sod or beds

Turf in the open sun usually takes seed or sod well in early fall or spring. Shade-adapted spots might be better as beds, ground cover or native plantings. We help you choose and, if you like, install.

A new light environment

Removing a big tree changes light, moisture and root competition. Plants that were fine under the canopy may scorch in new sun. We tell you what to expect and which plants fit.

Timing a restoration

The best timing for seeding is early fall. Sod can go in whenever the ground is not frozen. We tell you what to do in the first weeks: watering, mowing height and keeping foot traffic off.

Early fall is ideal for cool-season grass. Spring works too with more watering.

Can you install sod?

We can prepare the area and install it, or coordinate with your landscaper.

What should I plant where the tree was?

It depends on sun, soil and what you want. We help you choose.

Do you plant shrubs and beds too?

We can, or we can coordinate with your landscaper.
